wedding dance preparation

Your wedding dance should be like you: unique!

Wedding Dance Preparation

If you are looking for a unique wedding dance experience that matches your personal styles and wishes, you should talk to us. We offer a simple method for couples who want to break away from the traditional waltz opening dance.

We work closely with you to create an original wedding dance inspired by your personality and your unique story, even if you are new to partner dancing. You can choose between developing a choreography together or learning inspiring patterns to use in an open dance.

To craft an unforgettable wedding dance, we follow the 5 simple steps below.

Learning Steps

Step 1 (1 session)

You select a song that fits your unique story, and we look how you naturally move on the chosen rhythms – it will help shape a wedding dance that best fits you!

Step 2 (2-4 sessions)

Using what we observed in Step 1, we start selecting moves and shapes for your dance and we exercise some simple techniques that help you assimilate the motions

Step 3 (~3 sessions)

We develop and learn short sequences together, and we identify the accents in the music and the ‘waow’ moves and moments you want to include

Step 4 (~2 sessions)

You can now dance through a whole song, but still slow down or stop between figures: it is time to build fluidity through repeated practice and minor adjustments

Step 5 (1-2 sessions)

Almost there! The last step in your journey to a unique dance is about styling and confidence. Don’t forget to smile!

Bonus step

Don’t underestimate the pressure of dancing in front of a crowd: avoid a ‘freeze’ and practice dancing in front of a friendly crowd at one of our events

wedding dance

For each session, you should practice a further 60-120 minutes on your own time.

Depending on your specific requirements, the number of sessions might vary, so we will adjust the program based on your progress.

private lessons

You know the steps. Have you experienced the flow?

Private Lessons

Do you want to go beyond regular classes and get personal feedback on your connection, posture and dance fluidity? We are here to help you!

Our teaching method is built around the flow and helps us explore different aspects of your dance, including how you naturally move, how you connect with your partner and how the music guides your dance.

We have put all our experience in our method, so don’t be surprised to recognize elements of lindy hop, west coast swing, tango, blues or ballroom dances.

A private lesson generally consists of the following steps:

  • Some partner dancing, paying attention to specific points you want to improve
  • Specific exercises to isolate the relevant fundamental technique and posture elements
  • A small selection of moves to exercise and memorise the newly acquired technique
  • A short debrief to reflect on progress and provide further inspiration
