Meet the Organizers
Tanzwolke
Since 2011 we are proud ambassadors of swing, lindy hop, charleston and blues in Zurich, and part of a growing local community of teachers, dancers and performers addicted to the highs and challenges of social dancing.
We have a wonderful range of dance styles available at our central location, including lindy hop, balboa and solo jazz & charleston.
Leroc Zürich
We are a community of friends with a passion for partner dancing and a taste for musicality, improvisation and dance conversations.
We get our inspirations from swing, latin, tango and many other styles, and dance west coast swing / smooth swing, modern jive / ceroc™, modern blues or breakaway ballroom on a mix of modern charts and traditional songs.
Discover our Influences
In our Swing’n Smooth parties, you will find west coast swing and lindy hop, but also influences from blues, zouk, argentine tango or different versions of swing.
West Coast Swing
Rooted in Lindy Hop, west coast swing (and its simpler version smooth swing) is characterized by an elastic look. It is danced primarily in a slotted area and allows for both partners to vary the steps while dancing together, putting it in a short list of dances that emphasize improvisation.

Lindy Hop
Lindy Hop is an American dance which was born in the African-American communities of Harlem in the late 1920s. It is a fusion of many dances that preceded it or were popular during its development, mostly jazz, tap, breakaway, and Charleston. It is a highly diverse and playful dance.

Blues
Blues has its roots in sub-Saharan African music traditions and the historical dances brought to the United States by European immigrants. As a dance family, it includes historical movements danced to blues music and contemporary evolutions that are danced in that aesthetic.

Modern Jive / Ceroc™
The original modern jive, then known as LeRoc, is an evolution of a French version of jive (LeBop). It is characterized by off-phrase dancing and a lack of defined footwork.
Under the influence of West Coast Swing, a slotted version of modern jive sometimes called Smooth Swing has been widely adopted.
